I’ve been looking through all the interviews I’ve done so far, and I’ve noticed some common themes in our conversations. This week, I’ve paraphrased 10 of the things that almost everyone has mentioned, whether it made it into the published interview or not. They are in no particular order.

  1. Things do fall through the cracks. The key is to let folks know and move on.

  2. We all struggle with delegation and we all know it would make a difference.

  3. You don’t have to know all the answers.

  4. Relationships are important, whether you like the individual or not.

  5. It’s better to over communicate than under communicate.

  6. We know we are harder on ourselves than we need to be.

  7. Regular staff meetings make a difference.

  8. Find something that gets your head out of the job.

  9. Listen.

  10. It gets easier.
